Art and Activities for Kids

After-school art classes

EntreAmigos offers arts and crafts activities for kids every afternoon, Monday – Thursday.   Under the guidance of a volunteer, the children express themselves and learn new skills—working with scissors, paint, paper and recycled materials they make a different craft everyday.  Samples of the children’s art work can be seen in the Art and Gift Gallery.    (Click on the pictures to enlarge)

Summer workshops

In 2006, our first year of summer activities, more than 100 kids enrolled in EntreAmigos workshops.  Thirty adult volunteers lead six weeks of classes in English, swimming, cooking, sports, painting, Yoga and horticulture.  We can’t wait for summer 2007!  The 2007 workshops will be announced next month.

July 2007 is the start of the second summer activities workshop for children, over 100 children have already enrolled in the various classes.  We expect to have over 130 total children attending classes which is about 80% of the towns children

We have an amazing offering of summer classes this year that include both educational and recreational activities.   San Pancho children ages 6 and up are invited to participate in one or many of the summer classes that span the six weeks of vacation.

This year's offerings include:

English

Computers

Community art

Swim Lessons

Lifesaving and First Aid

Creativity and Literature

Cooking

Bike repair

X-treme sports

Body expression and Movement

Bugs and Icky things

Ecology and Recycling

If I could be ….  (a mentoring class)

The big difference in our classes this year is that we plan to offer separate classes for the 12 years and older kids.  This is important because here it is in Jr. high where you make decisions about continuing school that seriously affect the path of your life.  We hope that by incorporating this age group of kids into the programs of entreAmigos we can give them tools for the future and encourage them to choose paths of opportunity.
